Listen to Justin’s series covering the life and political evolution of US socialist and labor leader Eugene Debs. Episodes 1-3 follow the beginning of his life and career all the way through the Pullman Strike orchestrated by the American Railway Union, one of the largest strikes in US history. Episodes 4-6 pick starting where part 3 left off: with Debs in prison following the failed Pullman Strike, and dives into his turn to socialism, founding the Socialist Party of America, and the IWW, and his first two presidential runs in 1900 and 1904 – leaving off as the campaign starts in 1908. Episode 7 and 8 covers the 1908 election and the immediate aftermath, through the beginning of his anti-imperial activism kicked off by World War I. The rest of the series finishing out his life as a dedicated voice of every worker regardless of gender, race, or country, and international solidarity.
